Hey neighbors!

We have recently noticed another internet service provider (IQfiber) preparing to send bucket trucks to Stocker and connect to our overhead power lines. Given the city has plans to go underground couple steps are needed for us to ensure that our collective voice is heard and the project can move forward.

If we do not act collectively and quickly… Dominion will continue to conduct their 4-5 year tree trimming cycle and none of us wants to go through this again. In the city survey for character preservation our trees were the NUMBER 1 ELEMENT the neighborhood agreed we wanted to protect the most.

  1. The first thing we need for the city and Dominion is to let them know if we have 100% approval and confirmation from each OWNA property owner. This requires a verbal approval. Please use the comments or email ownacharleston@yahoo.com to register your position. Homeowners: Please include name, address and your yes (agree to undergrounding) or no (do not want undergrounding) position. Link above will create an email to OWNA.
  2. Mac Gandy (City of Charleston) and Dominion Energy will conduct the easement process. Easements will be between property owners and Dominion. These easements allow Dominion to come service the underground utilities if need be.

Note: We will send a series of reminder posts at the start of each month. Please bookmark this page for easy access to the latest status updates. We understand that many of you are waiting to hear back from the city with an estimated cost on our end – we will update this page as soon as we receive any information from the city. Note: we only pay for the connection from the box to our house – which was negotiated by the city and is a substantial decrease in cost for us, if we receive enough approval from property owners on Stocker.

Thanks, Nick and Barbara.

We would love to hear from you!
